Have you ever felt like you didn’t fit in? I often felt this way as a kid, especially because I was so much bigger than the other kids. In my new book, Anonymoose (coming out on August 13!!), Ana Moose feels different and out of place (and so much bigger than the other kids). But so does Peter Porcupine, with all his quills. This is why, with a little courage, they can create the perfect friendship!

Anonymoose was acquired by my publisher, Beaming Books, as a fully sketched out dummy book. But I created the cover with the help of my editor @naomi.j.krueger and the Beaming Books marketing team. Here’s a peek of the process from thumbnails to final cover!

Some other fun facts about my process of creating Anonymoose:

It started from an idea I had back in 2018. My idea was: “Anonymoose- Moose is a detective or just wants to blend in and finds hilarious ways to do so chameleon style.” The thought of a big moose hiding made me laugh.

I wrote my first draft of Anonymoose in 2018. The first versions were a lot more silly, and it went through many versions and critiques before I found the story it needed to be. Special thanks to my critique group friends and agent @lkliterary for helping me find the right story. The story became more connected to my experiences as a child- being shy and not feeling like I fit in, and finding a special friend to connect with. I love where the story ended up- sweet with just the right amount of humor!
